AbstractCatalisadores de irídio, platina e rutênio suportados sobre alumina, com teores 0,05% e 0,10% de metal, foram preparados e caracterizados por adsorção de hidrogênio. As atividades dos diferentes catalisadores, para a oxidação de monóxido de carbono, foram obtidas em testes com um conversar catalítico de leito único. Os gases de exaustão, fonte de monóxido de carbono, foram gerados por um queimador de álcool. Os resultados obtidos mostram a seguinte sequência de atividade para os metais: Ir > Pt > Ru. Os catalisadores metálicos com teores de 0,05% mostraram conversões de monóxido de carbono similares àqueles dos catalisadores metálicos 0,10%. ABSTRACT: Iridium, platinum and ruthenium catalysts supported on alumina with 0,05% and 0,10% of metal were prepared and characterized by hidrogen adsorption. The activity in the conversion of carbon monoxide of the prepared catalysts was investigated in tests with a single bed catalytic converter. The exhaust gases, source of carbon monoxide, were generated by an alcohol burner. The results obtained show the following sequency for the activity of the metais: Ir > Pt > Ru. The catalysts with 0,05% metallic contentshowedapproximately the same carbon monoxide conversion rates in comparison with the 0,10% metallic catalysts.
